Expanding Our Capacity to Love

Have you ever noticed how being out in nature can bring so much joy, filling your cup and heart? Have you ever experienced that love for creation grow even more anytime you experience something new in nature?  Nature is filled with diversity. I'm going to ask you to use your imagination for just a second here. Play along and imagine for a moment that you're seeing the world for the first time. Imagine seeing your first flower, a red rose. You're taken aback by the color, the shape, the smell -- the beauty . Next you're introduced to a new flower, a yellow tulip! This is quite different from the red rose. It has a different color, shape, scent, texture... but it's also very beautiful! Then imagine stumbling across a pink dahlia! This third flower is completely different from the first two, but again equally as beautiful! I would imagine as you discover more and more new, unique flowers, your love of flowers grows even more!  For the next example, you don't even h...

College Football & The Root of all Suffering

Several weeks ago, my alma mater, The University of Alabama, played a nail biter of a football game against the University of Texas. It was intense, and there were times I yelled at the TV and got more upset than I care to admit. It's pretty rare that I get worked up over Alabama football these days, and while this was a doozy of a game that game that came down to the wire (we won by the way, Roll Tide, and please don't stop reading here for the 75% of you who hate Bama), I was way more calm than I used to be in close Alabama football games.       So what changed? How do I stay so cool, calm and collected (relatively) now versus a decade ago when I would lose my marbles when Alabama lost or almost lost? Is it because I've become more zen? Well, sort of, but that is only scratching the surface.       When I'm doing feeling work with a client, exploring the feelings that cause them pain and suffering, I encourage them to examine...

The Secrets BEYOND the Secret of Abundance

This past month, I learned some new lessons and new secrets about abundance that have forever changed how I think about money, receiving, giving, and all that is available to me. In the spirit of abundance, I want to share this knowledge with you so that you too can come into more : more money, more time, more freedom, more trust, more love.   I thought I knew a lot about abundance. I’ve known about the Law of Attraction for over a decade, I’ve been making vision boards and using affirmations and visualizations for years. Those are the things that come to mind for most people when they think about abundance and manifestation, and that is usually what is taught in most manifestation and abundance courses and teachings.   What I learned this past month is that manifesting doesn’t stop with the visualizations and affirmations. It doesn’t even stop once what you’ve been manifesting comes into fruition, which was quite surprising to me! Instead, my teacher explained ...

Free to Feel

Take a moment to close your eyes and think back to a time when you were a small child, to a time when you felt really upset. If you can't recall a specific time, just imagine one. In this memory, how did your small self cope with feeling upset?       Did you head to the pantry to grab a snack to numb the pain? Did you head to your room to vigorously clean up your toys, burying yourself in work? Did you pour yourself a stiff glass of kool-aid? How about turn on the tv to mindlessly watch cartoons? Maybe you went on a shopping spree at toys-r-us to help you forget about the upsetting incident?      In all likelihood, none of these examples above resonate, because most of us as children, and most kids in general express their emotions and express them in big ways: they cry, they scream, they throw tantrums! And while I was using some humor with those previous examples, that IS how most of us deal with our emotions as adults. In fact, ...

Raise Your Red Flag

A few weeks ago, I got back from my wedding and honeymoon in Hawaii. It was an amazing experience and adventure in so  many ways, and looking back I realize what a privilege it was to have this incredible opportunity.       I could write an entire blog about my trip, but as I've come back and gotten back in my routine, there's this one thing that I really miss, and I've realized it's just not quite the same when we're in our normal environment, moving through our daily routines.       At the place where we stayed (the Sheraton Kauai... 10/10 recommend!), we spent a lot of time in the pool area. This is just a side note, but it wasn't just a pool area. It was by the pool which faced the beach and the Pacific ocean. It was there we would witness breathtaking sunrises, sunsets, and would often watch sea lions swim right up on the beach! But again, that's an aside from this month's topic.       In addition...

Feels like Freedom

"I am stupid." That's not a belief you'd expect someone with a list of academic achievements as long as I have to believe about themselves. But I did.  I'm a voracious reader, have been asking for homework since second grade (nerd alert), am a law school graduate and a member of the bar, and could fill at 3 pages of a resume with my academic accolades. Yet, I still believed I was stupid.  How do I know? My newest healing certification (ThetaHealing®) is designed to excavate limiting beliefs from the subconscious, remove them, and replace those beliefs with how you want  to feel instead. Often times, we aren't even aware of the exact subconscious beliefs we're holding, and that's exactly how "I am stupid" was for me.  In the training, we practiced on each other, and when asked for something I wanted help with, I expressed the desire to not feel nervous when speaking in front of people. After doing some digging, we figured out I indeed believe...

The Silver Bullet

I recently heard Glennon Doyle interview Brandi Carlile on her We Can Do Hard Things  podcast. Glennon had a question for Brandi about a song on her newest Album In These Silent Days . The song is "Mama Werewolf", and she had a specific question about the following lyrics: "If my good intentions go running wild If I cause you pain, my own sweet child Won't you promise me you'll be the one My silver bullet in the gun" Glennon wanted to know if the song and these specific lyrics were a metaphor about ending trauma in your family of origin. Specifically she asked, "So are you saying there that if you do any of the hurtful shit that your family of origin passed down, that you want your kid to be the one to snuff it out of you, whatever it takes?"  Brandi said yes, yes exactly. The silver bullet doesn't kill the wolf, what it does is ends the curse of the wolf being the werewolf, and mama werewolf is asking the child to do that... end the curse if t...
