Learning to Ride the Wave

It’s no secret that I believe emotions and having a good relationship with them is important. I’ve shared parts of my own story, my experiences and struggles with emotions from time to time too, because I think it can help others relate and hopefully, it provides some hope that there’s a lot of room for growth (I’ve certainly come a long way).   But I would like to share my full story now, to help you see just how impactful our emotions can be and just how far we can come in developing a better relationship with them. I believe being open to feeling and processing our feelings is something that is vital for our own healing and also something that will help heal a fractured culture as a whole. But to be open to it, we have to know how to do it and where to start…   Almost exactly 6 years ago, in January of 2017, my mom was diagnosed with breast cancer. The news rocked me to the core, and I had no idea where to even begin to process the diagnosis. At that point in my lif...

The Mother of All Healing

This month I wanted to share a book, a concept, a movement that has deeply impacted both my own healing journey and the focus of my work as a healer. I suspect Bethany Webster's Discovering the Inner Mother has the ability to transform the lives of every daughter on this planet. Here's why... Do any of the following feel familiar or resonate with you? Feeling less-than Feeling powerless Self-sabotage when you get close to a breakthrough Avoidance of difficult emotions Numbing out (through substances, shopping, social media, etc.) Fears of being destabilized by emotions if you allow yourself to feel them Comparing yourself to others Feeling competitive with and jealous of other women Double binds ("Be smart, but not too smart. Be sexy, but not too sexy") Overworking, burnout, exhaustion Repeating patterns that don't ever feel like they get resolved Repeating loops of negative self talk Large contrast between the outer life you portray and the reality of your inn...

Expanding Our Capacity to Love

Have you ever noticed how being out in nature can bring so much joy, filling your cup and heart? Have you ever experienced that love for creation grow even more anytime you experience something new in nature?  Nature is filled with diversity. I'm going to ask you to use your imagination for just a second here. Play along and imagine for a moment that you're seeing the world for the first time. Imagine seeing your first flower, a red rose. You're taken aback by the color, the shape, the smell -- the beauty . Next you're introduced to a new flower, a yellow tulip! This is quite different from the red rose. It has a different color, shape, scent, texture... but it's also very beautiful! Then imagine stumbling across a pink dahlia! This third flower is completely different from the first two, but again equally as beautiful! I would imagine as you discover more and more new, unique flowers, your love of flowers grows even more!  For the next example, you don't even h...

College Football & The Root of all Suffering

Several weeks ago, my alma mater, The University of Alabama, played a nail biter of a football game against the University of Texas. It was intense, and there were times I yelled at the TV and got more upset than I care to admit. It's pretty rare that I get worked up over Alabama football these days, and while this was a doozy of a game that game that came down to the wire (we won by the way, Roll Tide, and please don't stop reading here for the 75% of you who hate Bama), I was way more calm than I used to be in close Alabama football games.       So what changed? How do I stay so cool, calm and collected (relatively) now versus a decade ago when I would lose my marbles when Alabama lost or almost lost? Is it because I've become more zen? Well, sort of, but that is only scratching the surface.       When I'm doing feeling work with a client, exploring the feelings that cause them pain and suffering, I encourage them to examine...

The Secrets BEYOND the Secret of Abundance

This past month, I learned some new lessons and new secrets about abundance that have forever changed how I think about money, receiving, giving, and all that is available to me. In the spirit of abundance, I want to share this knowledge with you so that you too can come into more : more money, more time, more freedom, more trust, more love.   I thought I knew a lot about abundance. I’ve known about the Law of Attraction for over a decade, I’ve been making vision boards and using affirmations and visualizations for years. Those are the things that come to mind for most people when they think about abundance and manifestation, and that is usually what is taught in most manifestation and abundance courses and teachings.   What I learned this past month is that manifesting doesn’t stop with the visualizations and affirmations. It doesn’t even stop once what you’ve been manifesting comes into fruition, which was quite surprising to me! Instead, my teacher explained ...

Free to Feel

Take a moment to close your eyes and think back to a time when you were a small child, to a time when you felt really upset. If you can't recall a specific time, just imagine one. In this memory, how did your small self cope with feeling upset?       Did you head to the pantry to grab a snack to numb the pain? Did you head to your room to vigorously clean up your toys, burying yourself in work? Did you pour yourself a stiff glass of kool-aid? How about turn on the tv to mindlessly watch cartoons? Maybe you went on a shopping spree at toys-r-us to help you forget about the upsetting incident?      In all likelihood, none of these examples above resonate, because most of us as children, and most kids in general express their emotions and express them in big ways: they cry, they scream, they throw tantrums! And while I was using some humor with those previous examples, that IS how most of us deal with our emotions as adults. In fact, ...

Raise Your Red Flag

A few weeks ago, I got back from my wedding and honeymoon in Hawaii. It was an amazing experience and adventure in so  many ways, and looking back I realize what a privilege it was to have this incredible opportunity.       I could write an entire blog about my trip, but as I've come back and gotten back in my routine, there's this one thing that I really miss, and I've realized it's just not quite the same when we're in our normal environment, moving through our daily routines.       At the place where we stayed (the Sheraton Kauai... 10/10 recommend!), we spent a lot of time in the pool area. This is just a side note, but it wasn't just a pool area. It was by the pool which faced the beach and the Pacific ocean. It was there we would witness breathtaking sunrises, sunsets, and would often watch sea lions swim right up on the beach! But again, that's an aside from this month's topic.       In addition...
